Scroll Patrol helps you notice and reduce idle scrolling by showing timely nudges. We designed the app to process activity on your device and to keep data minimal.

Data We Process (On-Device Only)
To provide nudges, Scroll Patrol processes the following data locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
- Foreground app package: which app is currently in the foreground, to detect when you’re in a selected app.
- Idle duration: how long you have remained in the same foreground app.
- Installed apps list: used to show you a list of apps you can choose to monitor.
- App settings: your thresholds, selected apps, language, and monitoring/snooze state.
What We Do Not Collect
- No personal identifiers (name, email, phone number).
- No precise location data.
- No content from within other apps (e.g., messages, posts, passwords).
- No analytics, advertising IDs, or tracking beacons.
Permissions We Use and Why
- Usage Access (
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): to observe which app is in the foreground and for how long, so we can trigger nudges for apps you select.
- Draw over other apps (
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): to display an on-screen break overlay (with your consent) that helps prevent accidental dismissals.
- Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to deliver reminders when the overlay is not enabled.
- Foreground service: to keep monitoring active reliably while the app runs in the background.
- Boot completed receiver: to restore your monitoring state after you reboot, if you previously enabled monitoring.
Purchases
Scroll Patrol offers optional in‑app purchases via Google Play Billing. Purchases and payment information are processed by Google. We do not receive or store your full payment information. We may store a local flag indicating your purchase status to unlock features on your device.
Data Sharing
We do not share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising. We do not transmit usage data to our servers.
Data Retention and Deletion
- All app settings and state are stored locally on your device.
- Uninstalling the app deletes locally stored data.
Children’s Privacy
Scroll Patrol is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Your Choices
- You can enable/disable monitoring at any time in the app.
- You can choose which apps to monitor and set thresholds.
- You can revoke Usage Access, Notifications, or Overlay permissions in Android settings at any time.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective” date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
