This Privacy Policy explains how GiftMe ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. GiftMe is a wishlist-sharing app that lets users maintain a personal wishlist and share it with friends within the app.

We collect the following information when you use GiftMe:

• Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. This is used to create and identify your account within the app.
• Profile and wishlist content: Information you choose to enter yourself, such as your display name, an "about me" description, items on your wishlist, and things you like or dislike (e.g. food preferences, activities). Providing this content is optional, though the app's core function — sharing a wishlist — relies on you filling it in.

We do not collect location data, device identifiers, or any information through analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services, as the app does not include any such services.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used solely to operate the app's core functionality:

• Authenticating you and maintaining your account
• Displaying your profile and wishlist to you and to friends you connect with in the app
• Letting friends see which wishlist items you've marked as already purchased by someone else

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information to anyone.

3. How Your Information Is Shared

Your profile and wishlist are visible to other GiftMe users you have added as friends within the app. This is a core, intended feature of the app so that friends can see gift ideas and coordinate purchases without duplicating gifts.

We do not share your personal information with third-party companies, advertisers, or data brokers. Your data is stored using Google Firebase, which acts as our data processor (infrastructure provider) — Firebase does not use your data for its own independent purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore Database). All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account and wishlist information for as long as your account remains active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete your data within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Children's Privacy

GiftMe is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
